Benidorm is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain: known for its beaches, gastronomy and nightlife, this city has become an icon of the Spanish coast.

Some people might think that’s all Benidorm has to offer, but nothing could be further from the truth. Below we present four alternative activities, which will undoubtedly make you enjoy Benidorm in a unique way.

Contemplating the Mediterranean from Benidorm Castle

Known for being the “Balcony of the Mediterranean” this viewpoint is one of the most emblematic places in the city. It is located on a large rock that separates the two beaches, near the tourist area. Right at this point was the fortress that defended Benidorm from the attack of pirates, hence its name.

Observe the skyline of Benidorm

Did you know that Benidorm is the second city in the world with the most skyscrapers per inhabitant? Well, yes, only surpassed by New York. And it is this large number of skyscrapers that makes Benidorm’s skyline one of the most imposing in Spain. Moreover, this particularity makes it a unique city, as it is not usual for cities that are not financial or economic centres to have so many skyscrapers.

Visit Benidorm Island

One of the best places to observe the skyline is from the sea. And we can’t think of a better way to do it than taking the opportunity to visit Benidorm Island, a small unpopulated island located about 3 kilometers from the beach. It belongs to the Natural Park of Sierra Helada, for its flora, fauna and sea beds, which can be enjoyed thanks to the excursions that leave daily from the port of Benidorm.

Hiking in Sierra Helada

Enjoying nature is also possible in Benidorm. Sierra Helada is a Natural Park located near the city and on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. A place where the sea and the mountains meet giving rise to an ideal environment for hiking and nature lovers. Cliffs of more than 300 metres, viewpoints, the Albir lighthouse and spectacular views will accompany you along the route. Put on comfortable clothes, and enjoy!
